Solskjaer Reveals All On Haaland, Ronaldo & United Exit | Stick to Football EP 22

Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by SkyBet. On this week’s special episode we are delighted to be joined by former Manchester United player and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Joined by former team-mates Gary Neville and Roy Keane alongside Ian Wright, Jamie Carragher and Jill Scott, the hosts start the show tucking into a special Norwegian stew dish, and it doesn’t take long for Roy to remind Ole of his miss against Bayer Leverkusen in the 2002 Champions League semi-finals.

Having last spent time as a manager at Manchester United, Ole reveals what really went on at the club during his tenure, including how he nearly signed Declan Rice, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham and what it was like working with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The man who made the 1999 Treble win possible also talks about what his winning goal against Bayern Munich and gives insight into the dressing room, telling never told before stories of what hobby Gary took up as a player and which guest Ole nearly had a fight with in the tunnel.

Finally we end on a min-quiz between Ole and Roy centred around the infamous Champions League semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen; who will have bragging rights between the former United duo?

  1. Roy drove to that man’s country just to make sure he was okay because he knew this club did him so dirty. Listening to this just makes me sad and angry at how this club is being run. Ole should still be manager, I’m off the ETH train like never before after listening to this interview. Ten Hag doesn’t have the dressing room, he’s not been backed by the new owner publicly, I mean cmon Ole should still be our manager

  2. Excellent manager with players of the wrong mindset. I would give him a shot at united again with freedom to buy players. Good episode. Every united fan needed this. Massive shoutout to @theoverlap

  3. Watching united as a city fan –
First thing – a year befire ten haag took the job , he publicly stated thst he wouldnt eork in england, his managerial style wouldnt work – signs for united a year later , tried to turn united into ajax!
    Signs mediocre players
Has no method to his madness , ronaldo , sancho out , rashford – can do what he wants .
United have possibly 5 players that are top 4 premier league quality !
As stupid as many nay see this – roy keane , ryan giggs etc NEED to be involved at united , leading directors and players on the united way . Even all the new directors if this theat and the other , its all a mix amd match ! A good United team is good for football ! Itll be another 5-7 years before united compete, thsts being generous , they are lost as a club ! ,
Fast typing , ignore the spelling

  4. This was absolutely brilliant. It’s incredibly insightful and great timing for the clubs current situation. Thanks Gary, Ole and everyone.
I do hope SJR and Erik watch this, let’s not make the same mistakes. Change the way the club is run and clear out some of that dressing room!

  5. We can speak about his first 2 full seasons as a manager where he finished 2nd and 3rd which is good, but the energy we saw in the players when he took over halfway through his first season and the next was like watching Liverpool when Klopp took over. And Solskjaer is no tactical mastermind so it was mostly based on energy and will to win.
