  1. It’s actually madness how quick people forget clubs last couple year history, while there club was eating and getting slap in cruddy europa league 😂😂😂😂😂

  2. Not happy about that West Ham shout. Yes, I’m biased but I can’t see us finishing below all of the other teams, which is essentially what they’ve said. Everybody is losing 4-0, 8-0, 4-1 to Newcastle. West Ham managed to draw 2-2 with Newcastle. We’re competing and CL is not out of the question. I think we are slim chance. Won’t qualify was harsh, Brighton and Villa have never had European football. This is our third season in a row. Brighton are finished and Villa will win the UECL

  3. If the second category is called “good chance” I think you should’ve allowed as man magnets in it as the panel wanted.

I do think people are sleeping on Newcastle a bit. On of the toughest starts to the season fixture wise (Liverpool, city, Villa, Brighton, West Ham) have all been played.

They’re actually 3 points ahead of where they were at this point last season. Not to mention we haven’t really seen Harvey Barnes play and Joelinton and Willock have been injured.

It normally takes 6 months for players to get to grips with Howe’s system and aside from Bruno every player has taken that to hit their stride. Even Burn as a LB because he played CB his first 6 months is getting better still. We’re now seeing Gordon deliver. It makes you wonder what could happen when Tino and Lewis Hall are ready.

The obvious downside is the inevitable loss of Tonali.

But if Newcastle can avoid injuries I think they could surprise people again and sneak that 5th spot (which I think is between Villa, Chelsea, Brighton and Newcastle).

Already we have seen signs that Howe has worked on the deficiencies of last season. We’re breaking teams down that sit back which was our Achilles last year. We still gave Liverpool a good game, smashed Villa. PSG showed that Howe isn’t afraid to veer away from his preferred style of play for a game. After losing to city we beat them in the cup with a different approach.

The other thing people mention is that we’ve already lost as many as last season but we can make that up by converting some of the draws into wins (like Palace today).

Then there’s the fact that we’re scoring for fun. Top of the league for goals scored, goal difference and xG (so it’s not an massive over performance)

  4. "Newcastle are dominating their group" it's a champions league group with 6 games in it. If they lose their next game with other results against them, all of a sudden they might find themselves losing their grip. People are always early with their statements. I remember last season, Chelsea opened their group stage with 1 point out of 6 and ended winning the group after being counted out. Have some patience…

  5. Crazy how much Newcastle are underrated. The league is going to be very open this year and Newcastle are going to be close to the top but so are a lot of teams. I don't see Chelsea having a better chance than Newcastle or even Brighton

  6. "If there was going to be an injury to Trent or Van Dijk…."

Literally both of those players have missed a chunk of games through injury/suspension already this season, and the likes of Matip, Quansah and Gomez excelled in their absence. Liverpool's depth in defence gets a little bit disrespected.

  7. Typical – Rave against Brighton

Aston Villa is under the radar and people forget that Brighton beat Aston Villa by 1 point last season and once we got rid of Gerrard. We gave Brighton 11 points start and we reeled them and many others in.

  8. Shocking, how do chelsea have a better chance than villa, brighton, west ham and united the same. Villa are literally in top 5 rn as well lol, Chelsea and United just mid-table.

  9. My prediction in most likely order:

Nailed on: Man City (1st), Arsenal (2nd), Liverpool (3rd)
Good Chance: Spurs (4th), Newcastle (5th)
    Slim Chance: Brighton (6th), Chelsea (7th), Aston Villa (8th), Man U (9th)
    Won't Qualify: West Ham (10-12)
