His contract was due to expire in 2025 and Brighton would have been in a pressure to sell him either this summer or the next, and at a fee way lower than £80m

Caicedo only signed the extension with the guarantee that he'd be allowed to leave if a reasonable bid came in, then Rice went for 105m so Bloom and Barber got greedy and went back on their word, sacrificing the wishes and agreement with the player to line their own pockets. Ultimately, we know what Brighton are like, they over value their own players and under value other teams players, but Caicedo should fire his agent for agreeing to that deal without putting in a release clause. Hopefully he learns that you can't trust the word of a gambler.
