  1. If they don't win the league, it would definitely be a slightly disappointing season. If they won the FA Cup/Europa and finished 2nd, it's a different story but they're out of all of those competitions as well. For a club like Arsenal, who are the 3rd biggest club in England, a season without a trophy is always not great.

  2. if it was any other era they could win but this man city team is the strongest team in the bpl era you talk about the invincible's point tally was not anywhere near Peps 100 point team, fergie never got close to that tally. The league is stronger today than ever before every team is technical every team has quality. Before you had teams with long balls and negative football. Pep is not only the test tactical manager to ever exist but every team has tried to play his kind of football. So you have clones vs master. Even though he had great players at Barcalona the main element was his tactical no how. Fergie had no answer for peps system in the two champions league finals. We need to realize the greatness of pep and realize no team would compete with a pep guardiola side. Klopp came close twice but peps teams are two dominant. I'm a Liverpool fan but Pep is the best manager I've ever seen, the biggest tactian and the biggest philopsher of the game. Even Trent as an inverted full back last night vs leeds was a idea from pep.

  3. Arsenal have obviously passed expectations and hopes they had at beggining of the season which would of been top 4. However, the drop off last year towards the business end of the season, the lead they had over city, recent results after being in positions of having 2-0 up and blowing it has to be taken into account it's literally the definition of faltering and bottling the position they were in. In addition sacrificing all cup competitions to make the league the sole focus and likely hood that next season other teams will make it more than a 2 horse race means regardless of expectations before the season begun this was arsenal's chance which you certainly can't guarantee will be there in coming seasons.

  4. Honestly this season is already a success, because we are in the champion league next season as anticipated by all fans worldwide. Unfortunately, we have gone an extra mile hoping to win the EPL and if that doesn't happen a lot of fanatic's fans will see it as a failure but in actuality it's not.

  5. It’s not a failure. The target was always top 4. We are in the biggest rebuild of our clubs history and we’ve massively exceeded expectations this season while other clubs have faltered. Fan’s expectations have changed but the target has always been get top 4, champions league next season and strengthen the squad for next season

  6. Obviously if you said at the start of the season Arsenal would finish 2nd, you'd say excellent. However, with Arsenal being top of the table for almost the entire season, not winning it now would be a failure and huge setback. You can't dress it up any other way.

Liverpool and Chelsea will be stronger again next season, Newcastle will continue spending and improving, Man Utd will continue spending. This is a golden chance for Arsenal to win it. Don't take that chance now and they could be waiting a long time again.

  7. The two things can be judged entirely separately.

Would second be deemed success at the start of the season? Of course!

Would second when you are 8 points clear be seen as a disaster? Absolutely!
