  1. I like the Kid (Lamar), darn good QB and a time will arrive when he thinks "How much money do I need?" I hope he signs tomorrow and remove the risk factor because the longer he waits the risk grows bigger and bigger ….. Sign Young Man.

  2. I’ve watched Lamar play every game of his professional career and he’s only taken like four solid hits. He’s too shifty. Most of the time he runs out of bounds or gets taken down with an arm tackle or tripped up.

  3. Florio should get Bobby Wagner to explain to him why paying a huge chunk of your salary to an agent is stupid.

If an agent can get Lamar say 5% more than Lamar can get on his own is that worth it if the agent gets a 10% fee? Do the math.

  4. Mike is obsessed with Lamar
    1. He says he’s not a team player for not going to OTA’s
    2. He then says “Lamar shouldn’t step on the field until he gets a contract”
    …. Which one is it?

  5. Why wait…
    1. Franchise tag is 45M nxt yr, he's guaranteed top 5 money after this season regardless.
    2. Maximizes his earnings over next 7-8yrs
    3. Places pressure on Ravens to build around his preferences, keeps his orion's open.
    4. If Ravens don't want to throw the ball, he just hits the market as an UFA and breaks the bank.

Ravens will pay him last yr, franchise, then trade him to the Dolphins for Tua and two 1st's.

  6. A major indicator of how far pro sports have fallen in terms of entertainment value is the fact that player contract negotiations are the most interesting stories and most talked about aspects of professional sports in this era of "wokeness" on the one hand, and the advent of the Federal Reserve's helicopter money policy of the past 20 years or more on the other. I can't say what a player of Lamar's caliber should be paid, but what the Browns paid for Deshaun Watson is insane given that he might not even see the field this year after the NFL decides how to handle his "personal conduct" issues, which could mean suspension for the season….meaning that it would be 2 years of inactivity before he returned to the field! And it's not like Deshaun wasn't a bit of a prima dona headache for Houston's management office either! And who knows how long his current "personal conduct" issues and legal suits will be a distraction for him.

Nobody knows how good Watson is at this point, after being out of action so long and with so many distractions on his mind. After all his difficulties and inactivity, he may never again be in the peak mental condition and physical form that convinced everyone that his potential was almost limitless. But his entire contract of $230 million is nevertheless fully guaranteed! No wonder the Browns have never been able to get out of their own way even after years of top draft picks because of their lousy record.

NFL owners are really putting themselves in the path of a financial tsunami by setting the pay scale so high (for QBs) based on a standard of achievement and reliability that (in Watson's case) is debatable to say the least. Based on the Watson situation, to pay a player like Lamar about the same, or a token $10 million more than Watson just for optics sake, would be cheating Lamar if we compare him with Watson's potential (certainly not greater than Lamar's), Watson's achievements (Lamar has been a unanimous MVP and taken his team to 2 conference championships), and Watson's reliability (Lamar, until last season, when he missed the last 5 games mainly because the Ravens were pretty much out of it by the time he got hobbled, never misses a game). By that kind of criteria, Lamar is worth nearly twice what Watson is getting be paid!

NFL owners are going to have to figure out a way to "normalize" these player salaries, especially for QBs…or hope that the Federal Reserve's helicopter money policy goes on ad infinitum if they want to continue pouring money into imagined athletic unicorns and keeping the fans' team competitiveness fantasies stoked each season.

  7. I dont really think that Lamar's contract is anyones business but Lamars. He said they are talking, just keeping it private. More players should be like Lamar

  8. Mike F and much of the media just can't handle that LJ does things differently. But this show is constantly trying to create problems and issues that aren't there. It looks more and more like the Fox News of the NFL everyday with the silly rumour mongering and 'non' news. It's bitchy and whiney and I'm done watching it. Just wanted to let you know why.

  9. He can't throw. I can't see another NFL team dumbing down their playbook to take him on. Even Hollywood Brown left because he wants a real QB

  10. What he's saying is this is none your business..
He knows what he doing, smart, and talented.
Why media needs to know every athlete's contract, I don't care how much he makes, I know he doesn't care what I make..

  11. And this why I really don't like Florio. He's just one of those guys who thinks that if you don't live your life EXACTLY how he sees fit, then you are somehow a bad person, or you are doing stuff wrong. Just let people be who they are man. C'mon Florio, get off your high horse, stop with the self-righteous B.S. and just let people be themselves.
