Why Kenny Pickett was only QB taken early in draft | Pro Football Talk | NBC Sports

Uhhh because this draft didn’t have any good quarterbacks, duh! And tbh Pickett isn’t all that good lol
Had less to do with having Bradshaw but instead rumors Marino was a marijuana user. This was the anti drug, war on drugs early 80s, especially normal street drugs, harmless marijuana.
I really like Pickett, and I’m glad the Steelers got him.
Because the Steelers are currently a desperate franchise.
Am I the only one who gets extremely nervous when a qb is chosen in the first round if you aren't picking 1st? If Pickett doesnt start week 1 what was the point in selecting him? He will be what, 26 27 years old if he takes the field at the end of Trubisky contract in a couple years? Wasted pick imo. Should've gotten a Center
No one is being forced to play in the NFL
If you want to move somewhere, go get another job.
Pat McAfee put it best — if Pittsburgh DIDN'T take Pickett, that was a huge red flag for every other team. It's very promising that they took him & didn't expect him to be there.
Same experts had Pickett at number 6 to Carolina, but now it`s a bad pick.
The argument now is, all the other team pass on him, nobody want him…Same as Brady, Mahomes or Josh Allen.
the problem is that steelers have Trubisky and there is no argument that someone could honestly say pickett will be better than mitch. Steelers should have drafted someone else or drafted down and get a QB in 23 or 24
As Tucker Carlson would say, "…because he's white!"
That Thomas Brady bit is an awesome story!
Jimmy to the Stealers
Kenny will throw many Picketts
I think there’s two reasons: 1) this QB class wasn’t that great; all the top few guys seem like projects, and 2) the QB position in the NFL is as deep as I’ve seen it in a long time. Almost every team either has their guy or someone they feel could be their guy.
Because the Steelers are fuckin stupid ??♂️ could be why
Because coached finally stopped listening to media. All QB's were third round talent at best.
I love how they like to make up this left door right door narrative, hope and dreams garbage like they have any clue what the Steelers or Kenny Pickett are thinking. Kenny Pickett wasn't a great option, but was the best option this year. It must be hard making up a bunch of nonsense to talk about every day.
C'mon guys. The STEELERS would have taken Pickett in round 2 if he slid that far.
Tech slide-
There wasn’t a franchise caliber QB in that whole draft class. Pittsburgh isn’t going to know afc championship games with freaking Kenny Pickett. Reality has to set in sometime. Feel good stories quickly fade when expectations aren’t met
This is a copy cat league, Pickett like Jones last year is the most pro ready. Arguably the Steelers have a better team than the Pats who made the playoffs. The team is ready now, Tomlin like Belicheck is an excellent coach, and does not want to spend 2 years developing a QB. Win now, like the last two super bowl champs the Bucs and the Rams. I am not a Steelers fan but I do know that team only needs a solid QB to be dangerous.
This is a case where analysts cannot admit they were wrong about Malik Willis. Someone else has to be wrong too. It can’t be that 32 organizations all decided Malik wasn’t worth a first or second round pick. It must be that the entire quarterback class was bad and the Steelers reached. These people can’t see the forest for the trees.
Mike the the worse sport host outside of Shannon Sharp. Two absolute clowns.
Picket was picked first. The rest were picked in the third round. Enough said.
Ridder was the steal of the draft and Pittsburgh grabbed pick it pickett ?
I wonder if anyone teases him when he uses his credit card.
Art Rooney II screwed things up telling his Grampa Art "the chief" Rooney (who wanted Marino) he wanted Gabriel Rivera instead of Dan Marino!
These guys keep tryna bank on potential they gonna end up broke. I’ll bank on the more sure option especially in a draft where there’s not a lot of qbs being taken
WRONG.. they picked Mark Malone previously.
He knows he's right to have Willis ahead of Pickett. Tennessee is set now.
Trubisky will surprise Steelers fans
Desmond Ridder is interesting. He is one to watch down the road.
People are sucking Malik Willis like he won the ACC championship & was 3rd in the Heisman race….like are these dudes dvmb or what?
Does anyone else think he looks kind of like Justin Herbert?
Steelers made the right choice.
Malik Willis was more concerned with wearing 10lbs of Drip being a 3rd round pick. You can now see why he slipped in the draft.
There are no Joe Montana's or Tom Brady's available and probably never will be again.
Time will tell. Only one QB holds the trophy at the end of each year. Personally I hope in his career, Kenny gets to hold at least one up.
I think that Pittsburgh had a much better idea of who Kenny Pickett is as a person and a player on the day-to-day than any other NFL team.
If I was employed by another team and I saw Pickett be passed up by the Steelers I would wonder what it is that they know about Pickett that my organization doesn't know, for them to pass on him.
Florio Loves to mention how they DIDNT TRADE UP TO GET HIM
