Premier League owners' charter put on hold by the 'Big Six' over European qualification

A proposed Premier League owners’ charter has been put on hold because of concerns expressed privately by the “Big Six». The charter was designed as a response to the threat of the European Super League and one of the key proposals was around European qualification based on sporting merit. However, UEFA are currently considering a plan to allow clubs to qualify for the Champions League based off their coefficient.

  1. The winner of every European league should qualify. As well as 2nd and maybe 3rd place.
If you just allowed the clubs with the best coefficient we'll end up with all the big clubs staying at the top and the small clubs nowhere.

  2. Thank god what you guys call a farmers league aka scottish football doesnt have any of this pish the big 6 Dont exist anymore fs there more blood money in the pl than any other

  3. As an arsenal fan this is crazy
You earn your right to win every game leading to titles trophies. It's simple , if you lose you take it like a man. why do they keep trying complicate stuff

  4. These owners are going to drive me away from these "Big Six" clubs. Nobody has a right to play in European Cup Competitions unless you have earned it domestically. GTFO of our sport

  5. I really like the idea of a European superleague, but it should defo have a pro/rel format to it, maybe based on clubs who win the champions league having a play-off with the bottom superleague club. I doubt UEFA and the big clubs will agree on it though.

  6. "A 30 point deduction would almost certainly see the club relegated to the Championship"
Well based on last season's points totals, not a single one of the big 6 would have been relegated with a 30 point deduction. Same thing for 2018/19, 2017/18, 2016/17 and 2013/14. If Man City took a 30 point deduction this season, they would only be 4 points off a European place right now with 13 games to go, and given UEFA's new proposals, 7th would be enough to see them into the Champions League if the proposals were due to come in next season, which they would be allowed because they hadn't signed the charter (and if all of the big 6 did it, they would be sat 3rd, 8 points off West Ham in 1st, although games in hand for other teams would change things around). When Liverpool won the league in 2019/20, a 30 point deduction would have dropped them 1 place in the table even if none of the other teams did the same thing.

Bollocks would a 30 point deduction guarantee relegation, especially if all 6 of them did it and they would only have to beat 3 of the rest of the big 6 who also had deductions.

  7. screw the "big 6" it's not up to them anyway if every prem club votes on it then they will win the vote and the 6 self entitled clubs that happen to be at the top at this moment in time will lose the vote because there is only 6 of them. so go ahead with the vote. if the "big 6" don't vote thats their problem.

  8. Where was the punishment for these clubs when the idea of a Super League was announced?
Never mind financial penalties. Every single one of those clubs should have suffered points deductions.

  9. There's no way on this planet are Tottenham in the top 6..Being 1.2 billion in debt with a stadium they very rarely fill up make them a top 6 club…At the moment West Ham United are the largest crowd puller in London even more when they get the green light to extend the capacity to 67,000,,just cos they made C,L,final Tottenham are not a top 6 club they never have and never will be…

  10. Those two clubs should be Liverpool and Manchester United. The rest should fight it out for the rest of the position. Another leagues help their big clubs like Bayern Munich.

  11. What these guys want is to see the likes of arsenal,United in champions league every season rather than the west hams that don’t compete financially with those clubs
