«Establish a Beach head» Once we determine which assault method, run or pass, is the most effective versus our opponent, we will use this as the primary means to attack them 80% of the time. The other 20% of the time we will mix in one of the other attack methods. We want to have two means of attack to not allow the defense to hone in on our primary method and adjust to it. At the same time, we want to consider taking what the defense is permitting us either run or pass. Both systems, run and pass, need to be simple yet provide you with the answers to whatever the defense shows you.

«One Bit of Territory at a Time» – Do not try to beat the opponent in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd quarter, beat them gradually, control them. We want to have an offensive attack that they cannot stop from the 1st quarter through the 4th quarter and play all offensive situations the same, aggressive and attacking. We do not change offenses for down-distance, being ahead, being behind, goal line/short yardage, last play, two-minute, etc. The 5 Wide Attack Spread Offense works for all situations and allows us to keep taking territory, little by little. We ALWAYS remember that no amount of points are ever enough for them or us!

This is an introduction to a world of incredibly fun games played with dice. No, I am not going to teach you how to gamble. Rather, I am going to show you how just 2 to 8 dice can allow you to play a number of sports. In this first installment I am going to teach you about playing the college version of «Dice Football». This is probably the simplest of all my dice sports games that I’ll reveal in later articles. Anyway, in all dice football games you will need two dice, notebook paper and a pen or pencil.

The first thing you’ll need to do is draw a two inch horizontal rectangle on the paper encompassing three lines. I prefer college ruled notebook paper because the lines already create a smaller natural Visitor/Home team’s divider for the rectangle you draw. Next break your rectangle into quarters–just like in the box scores you see in the newspaper. You can write in any two college teams that you want to see play or just stick with the home/visitor set-up.

Once you’ve got your box score set up you can begin the game. The top team always goes first. Both teams will get five rolls of the two dice. You always allow the two teams to make their rolls (5) in the quarter all at once. In simpler terms, the visitor team rolls two dice five times. Then the home team does the same. You do this for each quarter of the game.

Scoring occurs when the two dice hit «doubles». That is a touchdown and it’s worth six points. For the extra point you would roll just one dice. If the dice is anything other than a «one», the extra point is good. Should you roll a one then the extra point was missed and you’ll have to settle on just six points for that one particular roll. Remember, you get five rolls of two dice per quarter per team.

Field goals can be attempted whenever one roll of dice results in a total of either a ten (4 & 6) or eleven (5&6). At that point you roll one dice to see if the field goal is good. When you attempt a field goal and you roll a one, two or three, the field goal is good. Roll a four, five or six and that means you missed…bummer.

This is an example of how the game can break down. The visitor team rolls the dice three times before a pair of twos result…Touchdown! The visitor rolls one dice and it results in a four…extra point is good–seven points total. The visitor makes their fifth roll and nails an eleven. A field goal attempt! He rolls a two which means that the field goal is good. The total score for the visitor in the first quarter is ten points. They got seven for the TD and the extra point plus the three points for the field goal.

The home team rolls twice before rolling a ten. He rolls a five on his field goal attempt which means he missed. Then he rolls doubles on both of his last two rolls, making the extra point both times. His final score in the first quarter is a fourteen. Thus the home team leads the game after the first quarter 14 to 10.

Keep rolling until the end of four quarters. If the score ends in a tie just alternate one roll of two dice between the two teams until someone scores. In the next article I’ll teach you about dice pro football which is a little more complicated. Till then, keep on rolling.

Frank Lampard has signed a new 5 year contract which keeps him at Chelsea until 2014. This is, at last, great news for the club and means Lampard will see out his career at Chelsea, when he will be 35 years old.

Of course all the hype in the media about football contracts might lead you to believe that they are a waste of time but as far as I see it this is pretty much a guarantee that Lampard will be staying with Chelsea.

I see it as my final big contract and I will play out my days at Chelsea, I want to finish my career at Chelsea.

This was fine with the acquisitions of Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane as they always played the ball on the ground and depended more on skill than pace which was fine with Raul.

By the time, Ronaldo and then David Beckham were bought then Real’s style of play changed with Beckham always looking for the long accurate punts that suited the more athletic and quick Ronaldo than it did Raul. Raul found himself being part of a cog to feed Ronaldo rather than in a system that suited his style of play. I have heard all this before labelled against Raul that he did not excel with any particular attribute but I disagree strongly. At his best and that was before Alex Ferguson put the kibosh on his career by labelling him the best player in the world after he tore apart Manchester United; he was the most intelligent striker in the world as he seemed to have a computer for a brain.

He knew instinctively when to lob a goalkeeper or when to round him and he really should have won the European footballer of the year on countless occasions. After all if Michael Owen can be awarded such an award then so should Raul.

He may not have been blessed with blistering pace and frankly I do not understand some people’s obsession with pacy players but he was a great player when he was at his very best. He could dribble past opponents on a 1 on 1 basis as much as any striker out there and his 1st touch was better than any striker out there save for Alessandro Del Piero of Juventus.

Perhaps he could not go past 3 or 4 opponents and unlike players like Thierry Henry, he could not exploit space afforded him because of his lack of blistering pace but unlike Henry he could exploit a modicum of room afforded him as he could turn on a sixpence and make something happen out of nothing.

He is the highest ever goalscorer in the Champions’ league with 61 goals and his country’s highest goalscorer with 44 goals in 102 matches. He is widely respected in Spain and I guess by the whole football community as 1 of the greatest if not the greatest Spanish player of all time.
