Todd Boehly’s consortium has signed an agreement to purchase Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.

The proposed deal, announced by the club in a statement in the early hours of Saturday morning, has to be approved by the UK Government and the Premier League before it can be completed. Chelsea say a deal is «expected to complete in late May».

The group headed by the LA Dodgers part-owner – which includes backing from Clearlake Capital, a US investment firm – beat off late competition from £4.25billion bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and other consortiums led by Stephen Pagliuca and Sir Martin Broughton to win the battle to become the Premier League club’s new owners.

  1. Sam Otoo yes when it is listed on NYSE it's going to increase the business Capital as a company is a separate legal entity. I think it will be good if the business is listed cuz most of the real funs will buy some share to enjoy being part of the team and also enjoy dividend when the company makes profits. And when the company (Chelsea) is making lost the funs will suffer also
Man U are indebt not because it is listed but it's because they made bad investment look at Maguire That player is a bad debt and he should be written off .

  2. Honestly don't know how it took this long for Moneyball to catch on, it should have been adopted and standardised by big clubs years ago, it not only could save a club so much money but also lead to more successful transfers and better return on players.

  3. I feel this marks the end of a period of success for Chelsea. They will now be forced to go through pretty much what Arsenal and United are going through, where Chelsea will not be the sole focus of the owners and bureaucracy will play a part in decision making. Anyone who can’t see this are naive.

  4. I find very bizarre that you have to say good bye to your 2.5 billion pounds and someone is going to decide what you are going to do with your money…. where is democracy in that ?

  5. Sky news in the mud. They reported fake news about Roman wants loan back. Now that Sky news reporter has been hiding for 3 days lol.
    Fake news

  6. Dont put chelsea in the same bracket as united and city, we sell players for good money and buy with that, city and united dont at all.
Chelsea in recent times have played by ffp rules and are a great buisines model big on charity also.
Roman threw money at cfc early on to build it into a club worth 4,25b.
I know people want to hate but gotta look at actual facts not just agendas and bias.
Liverpool havent won many trophies in that time ….

  7. I'm just glad we have a new owner now and we can start focusing on next season there's been so much drama at the club this season hopefully we come back stronger than ever ?
