  1. What a turnaround! Last year we had an injured washout and the Steelers had Big Ben. This year we have Desean Watson and the Steelers have Trubisky and hoping for a shot at the washout.

  2. Browns fan here. I have a fair bit of time for Baker. He's all in and has a SHEDtonne of heart (annnnnnnnnd I think the Watson trade is a horrible look), but I'm not freaking out if Baker's at Pittsburgh, he's not all that.

  3. Baker Mayfield’s value will increase over the course of this football season. The Browns should keep him as a back up and the first time a starting quarterback gets hurt you know they’re gonna be calling on Cleveland. It appears they’re gonna be stuck with most of his salary anyway why not get the use out of him?

  4. Yea, drag the Steelers into it, even on vapors. That'll drive your views.
After LeVeon Bell, after Antonio Brown … Baker Mayfield? If I were Cleveland, I'd write it off to sabotage of a rival.

  5. Why does Florio overthink things yet miss the nuances of the situation, First 18.8 million is not alot for a QB if you understand that Watson will likely be suspended 4-6 weeks to begin the season and Watson this year only makes 1 million. Also they WILL NOT CUT HIM, if they cut Mayfield his contract is fully guaranteed and they take the full 18million in cap hit (why cut someone if you must still pay the full bill), if they trade him they get the full 18 million in cap savings as the signing bonus was paid over the first 4 years. SO there is no incentive to cut him, they will trade him, nut they might not trade him till after the draft. However, I do think it will be predraft because if your Pitt, Carolina, Seattle or Atlanta(maybe the Giants if they are not sold on Jones) if you like Baker it clears up the need to look at QB in round 1. I think the issue is most to give any decent package will want to negotiate a new contract beyond one year and this will slow the process a little this has to be combined with Baker's health report, it is a similar reason Jimmy G will be harder to trade (but I think Baker is worth more than Jimmy G). I think Baker will get just a bit more than Darnold did last year Mayfield's injury was bad but it was to the non throwing shoulder..

  6. If anything this Deshaun watson situation taught me… is how uninformed the media is. These people know no more or less than anyone and the fact they are even discussing baker being released is insane. Won’t happen.

  7. keep Baker on the bench.. these teams will need a QB very soon. media just want to pressure the Browns into trading him or cutting him. nope. keep him as a back up.

  8. The Browns are gonna take a complete loss on Baker because of the way they handled the situation. No one will trade for him. They will have to simply release him at this point.

  9. Maybe this is wrong, but I thought I heard somewhere that Watson's contract is really back loaded so this year he doesn't make much. So why couldn't they keep Baker? Financially speaking. I get the other problems.

  10. Wild idea…Giants are shopping Bradberry and need a better QB, Browns trade Baker for Bradberry and perhaps a conditional draft pick the following year…have a feeling AB may trade Denzel Ward to recoup some of those lost draft picks…as Denzels value sky high, he's going to get a huge new contract soon, and he's not Andrew Berrys guy.

  11. Isn’t it in everybody’s best interest to bring Baker to camp.? Not only does he cover the Browns during any Deshaun Watson suspension, but he gets the opportunity to play well early in the season and increase his trade value. Not to mention that somebody’s quarterback is bound to get hurt early in the year and then he would move directly into a starting position. Then that team will have to eat the remaining money of his contract. But they have a starter. Which is what Baker wants.
