The Bears-Cardinals rivalry was one of the biggest and hardest fought in the history of the League. At the time, they were the only two franchises that occupied the same city. So it was really a border war. The Bears were by far the more successful franchise. Likes the north side Cubs of today, Chicago was a Bears town. So lots of motivation for the Cards to play extremely hard. And that they did. Fights were common in the rivalry. From 1951 to 1956, the Cards won 7 of the 9 games between the two teams. Cardinal players and fans maintained that George Halas ran the Cards out of town.
Bears won, 10-3…..Dec. 9, 1956
Great football film from December 1956, rather than 1950.
Those lineman looked so tiny back then.
I love watching Ollie Matson @1:27, surrounded by 4 Bears, but as Ollie Matson said during a segment on him made in 1987 about the Fabulous Fifties Volume 2, "I knew what to do with my speed. Now you see it and now you don't". Because this is 1956 not 1950, as several other posting have noticed, this Bear team played in NFL title game that year, but lost to Giants in Sneaker's Game Sequel.
@oqal nope, it is old american football, rules where a bit sifferent, goalposts where classic ones, like in rugby. love both sports
Is this a form of rugby league?
FootBRAWL!!
that's bad ass, i like how they fight at the end
Actually, they were 2-8. The trophy should have gone to Jim Brown.
