  1. I like Gary and carra together – it feels like Gary is more analytic and Carra is more emotional – almost as if they are challenging each other as to what people are thinking

  2. Gary is Man U to the core but he’s obviously a very honest moral man, If the government were to introduce an overseeing committee I would want Gary as Chairman… I’m an Arsenal supporter

  3. I'm not a Manchester United fan at all. I support Sunderland, and when it comes to Manchester, I've always cheered for City (because of Oasis… if Noel and Liam Gallagher are happy, I am happy).

However, there have always been two United players that I appreciated, one being Eric Cantona, and the other being Gary Neville.

It's his sense of humour, the fact he build himself an eco-friendly home, the fact that he created University Academy 92… it's hard to dislike such a well-rounded intelligent guy.

And he's nailed it once again, in regards to the silly "Super League" idea.

“It’s pure greed, they’re impostors. The owners of Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City have nothing to do with football in this country. Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham aren’t even in the Champions League. Have they even got the right to be in there? They’re an absolute joke. Time has come now to have independent regulators to stop these clubs from having the power base. Enough is enough.”

In his book Zero to One, Peter Thiel described how in order to become successful in business, one must not simply thrive in competition… but eliminate competition and become a monopoly. A very dangerous notion that only proves that unrestrained capitalism is, in fact, the enemy of free trade and competition.

Anyway… this is exactly what those clubs are trying to do, eliminate competition, become a monopoly, make all the other clubs irrelevant, and maximise their profits.

A European Super League marks the death of continental football, of competition, of new clubs rising and old clubs declining, and so on. Basically, it takes the life out of football.

  4. why would you give money to potential rivals ? well if you dont sooner or later you will lose rivals then who you gonna play against then ? you cant play with yourself, i mean you can but who would watch that.

  5. Its quite ludicrous the disparity of money paid out between the premier league and EFL, gone are the days of my club Derby gaining promotion and winning the 1st division based off great management of Brian Clough and smart transfers on a more level playing field ?

  6. As a fan of a lower league club the idea of prem clubs controlling everything would be devastating. Not sure I'd even both watching English club football again its saddening to see how little we are regarded when we are the true pride and passion of english football. My club will never reach the heights of the premier league now the finances are staying there and thats okay with me because i love my club but this would ruin it all

  7. Damn.. what a legend.. Couldn't agree more with Gary. That list in a nut shell is nothing short of what NEEDS to happen to make the game better for the fans as well as the players and even managers. I think its odd how the higher clubs would even go against it. Help grass roots = what? MORE Shearers, Adams, Campbells, Oh Paul Scholls, the list is endless.Where do you think these players came from? Roots.

  8. To be honest, i was too young to remember around 24 teams in one league. 20 teams seems fine. Cutting down to 18 will seem gobshite. Its always nice those games where a relegation teams upsets one of the big boys. Hope this never happens or else I'm never paying for any football sevices ever again. Would just stick to Motd like i use to during my school years.

  9. A massive problem is the percentage of Premier league revenue taken out by players/managers wages, that’s money what’s not going back into the pot where as if a club sells a player that money gets funnelled back in, rather than a salary cap they should have a wage bill cap to stop teams having 22 players all on 150k a week they would have to start using academy talent on low wages if they wanted to get more expensive players, it would also help the clubs at lower levels sell players coming through their academy, taking from the rich to give to the poor to level the playing field is just communism and anywhere that tries that finds out very quickly the few rich can’t support the poor masses for long.

  10. There is a need for change and we all can see and know that. This is for the continued progress of the game and of it's success to continue in the right direction. The 3 main chairman getting together would be a start and hopefully before, the various circumstances are pushed into it and that is too late.
