Chelsea Football Club in 'limbo' after owner Abramovich sanctioned

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is the latest Russian oligarch to be sanctioned, stopping him from profiting from the football club until May.

The team will continue to operate under a special licence from the Government, the first of its kind.

Chelsea cannot sell any new tickets to supporters, but all tickets sold before 10 March will be honoured.

  1. The government are liars. Abramovich has done NOTHING wrong and is simply the victim of an hysterical witch hunt. The sanctions against Chelsea will not help a single Ukrainian. I have complete contempt for Boris Johnson.

  2. This is private money!!! Are laws and contracts worthless in the UK???
China, India, Saudi Arabia, Israel etc they could avoid investing in the UK for the reasons

  3. Look at the big picture as it will not only be rich Russians losing assets it will be anyone from countries that won't back down to the US so the end result is that they won't invest in the UK, EU , US, Canada. Australia ect and as for Fooball clubs do they just get bought by US companies as even Middle Eastern countries should question if it is wise investing as they they may fall out of favour and lose their investments

  4. Once upon a time the Indonesian government interfered in football affairs, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) was punished or banned. now the UK and the European Union are also interfered with football affairs, FIFA even supports it. FIFA is a corrupt, racist, double standard, hypocritical and disgusting organization.

  5. I don't believe that the British Government , wants tear apart the great club Chelsea F C is today ! Without Roman Abramovich , Chelsea would never be the same . This is not a question of money only , it's above all , a question of love for a football club .

  6. This is Silly and Stupid they are clearly scared of Putin the main guy,,, enough of this un-necessary Sanctions on people who are not even involved in this war and be man enough to pull up on Putin???????????

  7. As Always UK govt doing what it does best waiting for an opportunity to grab other people's resources. They have been doing it for decades.F***k neo-colonialism.

  8. Chelsea is hooked on money like drugs, Abramovich was the dealer with stolen, I’ll-gotten Russian money. No more.
Bad times ahead for Chelsea, back to old times, no more Premier league !

  9. When will Tony Blair and George W Bush have their assets frozen for the illegal invasion of Iraq and the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent people and does that mean that all UK taxpayers have their assets frozen as well as we all funded the war criminals illegal invasion or do the lives of the iraqi people not count? The British have been responsible for more atrocities worldwide than the rest put together.

  10. The Chelsea players should be happy with the sanctions on their employer, they’ve been taking the knee for long enough against “racism & social injustices of any kind” & thus politicising their sport.
I’m surprised the rest of The Premiership, have not refused to play against Chelsea, with the blessing of all the players!
