West Ham will not hold further talks with Declan Rice until the summer transfer window has closed after the midfielder turned down an eight-year contract worth £83m.

Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing Rice this summer, but the 23-year-old’s contract has two years to run and West Ham have the option to extend it by a further 12 months until 2025.

West Ham offered Rice a new contract worth £200,000 per week – which would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history – but the 23-year-old has rejected all offers and is open to leaving this summer.

  1. Declan will leave West Ham sooner or later to further his career and West Ham will seek to get as much for his transfer as they can. But I really hope that this doesn't turn into another Harry Kane/Spurs debacle and stand-off.
He will improve just about any team in Europe, but I'm not sure that clubs will be willing to pay the £100-150M price tag that West Ham is attempting to hang around his neck

  2. Idk what idiot thought it would be a good idea to offer an "8" year deal when the norm is 3-6 years ! such a bad stunt and in fact very insulting to the player and his representatives, it is basically saying that the club thinks he is dumb enough to consider such an offer, what an absolute shitshow.

  3. I turned down a similar offer at my workplace. It was a 6 year deal though. I'm keeping my options open because they aren't the only ones I can flip burgers for.
